The lake at Cherry Orchard Jubilee County Park has seen water levels almost drop to nothing amid an ongoing drought, raising major fears for wildlife after levels similarly plunged last October leaving fish dying. Rochford Council is now working with the Environment Agency to improve water flow into the lake, which is not naturally fed, before winter arrives. Tino Callaghan, Rochford Reform councillor and chair of the environment committee, said the council is aware of the issue and working with the Environment Agency to divert excess winter water into the lake. "The council is working with the Environment Agency on improvements to the upstream sluice, which will help divert excess winter water into the lake. "Officers continue to monitor the site and most fish were relocated when water levels dropped last year.
