India’s cooperative-led White Revolution 2.0 is making steady progress towards transforming the country’s dairy sector, with 24,097 new Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCSs) formed and 31,394 existing societies strengthened so far under the initiative.
The Ministry said White Revolution 2.0 seeks to establish 75,000 new Dairy Cooperative Societies in uncovered panchayats and villages over a five-year period while strengthening 46,422 existing societies through improved milk procurement systems, modern dairy infrastructure, financial assistance and technical support.
The initiative is aimed at creating a stronger and more inclusive dairy cooperative network that directly benefits millions of milk producers across the country.
Launched jointly by the Ministry of Cooperation and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, White Revolution 2.0 is designed to increase milk procurement by dairy cooperatives by 50 per cent over the next five years.
By the end of 2028-29, cooperative milk procurement is targeted to reach about 1,007 lakh kilograms per day, significantly enhancing the share of cooperatives in India’s dairy economy.
