Government weighs fuel aid

BusinessWorld Online
THE government is evaluating proposals to expand fuel subsidies and adjust public transport fares amid rising operating costs, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has recommended a P20-per-liter fuel subsidy for public utility vehicle operators for one month.
The existing P10-per-liter subsidy has been extended until the end of August.
The government is also reviewing fare hike petitions seeking increases of P2 to P10.
Ms. Castro said President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. wants to ensure that any fare adjustments would not unduly burden commuters.
