Bishop's Castle Town Council held a public meeting last Tuesday (July 28) to look at whether the public hall in the town could be sold. The council sits as custodian trustees of the building on Station Street, which is a community venue that provides flexible space for events, parties, and performances. The call to close the public hall was made on the grounds of its "expense and suitability". The meeting also looked at how the building should be disposed of, based on the advice of a chartered surveyor on the sale price and terms. Councillors agreed that the net proceeds of the sale will then be held by the trustees of the charity.
