Huw Pearce, 56, was convicted of driving a motor vehicle in Llangurig, between Llanidloes and Rhayader, while over the legal alcohol limit. Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard that Pearce was driving a vehicle on the A470 on April 12, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit. Pearce, of Bridgend Road, Llanharan, had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on April 28. However, he was found guilty in his absence on July 13.
