The undercarriage will sit alongside the Sir George Dowty statue in Malmesbury, for two months before it moves to its permanent home at the Jet Age Museum in Gloucester. The undercarriage was restored by four Safran apprentices, the Gloucester-based successor to the Dowty undercarriage business, from a scrap Tornado undercarriage. Martin Robins, chairman of the Sir George Dowty Memorial Committee, said: "We now have a temporary addition. "Four Safran apprentices have taken a scrap Tornado undercarriage and completely restored it. The life-size bronze statue of Sir George Dowty features a wheel from a Lancaster bomber.
