Queen's Park Cafe, based in the Southside of the city, won the Highly Commended Award at the Proper Pubs Awards Gala. The award ceremony, which was set up by Proper Pubs - a division of Admiral Taverns, celebrated the achievements of Proper Pub's operators. Queen's Park Cafe was awarded one of the 11 awards up for grabs on the night, which included Proper Pubs Pub of the Year, New Proper Pub of the Year and Community Pub of the Year. Another award was Outstanding Achievement Award, which was handed out to Annie Kane, manager of Queens Park Cafe and Victoria Bar.
