“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about the sacrifice he made,” said Reeger of Hempfield. Eight hours of overnight dialysis is no longer part of Reeger’s daily life after receiving a living donor kidney transplant on April 24. They worked together for about 20 years photographing Penn State home football games, Reeger with the Trib and Plotkin for the York Sunday News. In addition to photographing the Steelers on a freelance basis for wire services, Reeger covers Penn State University football games and local youth and high school sporting events. Through Plotkin’s work at Penn State Health, he already knew the impact that organ donation can have.
