Update: In a statement to GamesBeat, Refactor Games founder Nathan Burba has confirmed the studio has cut 85 percent of its workforce—just about stopping short of a full closure.
Original story: A number of Refactor Games employees claim the sports game specialist has been shuttered shortly after shipping FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition.
Multiple staffers impacted by the situation allege the entire studio was torched at the hands of part-owner Delphi Interactive.
The international soccer simulator launched exclusively onto Netflix Games in June 2026—and while it was critically panned, Netflix described the title as a 'top tier' performer.
"After shipping the FIFA World Cup Launch Edition for Netflix Games, the studio's parent company unfortunately pulled funding, and the entire team, myself included, was laid off," they added.
