Oyo begins investigation into Oriire abduction

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry established by the Oyo State Government to investigate the abduction of 46 pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has invited members of the public to submit memoranda and evidence to aid its investigation.
Daily Trust reports that Governor Seyi Makinde had on Friday inaugurated an eight-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the abduction which took place on May 15, 2026.
Last Friday, Makinde took a step further by inaugurating an investigation panel.
The governor tasked the commission with establishing the facts surrounding the abduction, identifying any institutional or operational lapses, and recommending measures to strengthen the protection of schools and communities to prevent a recurrence.
And on Monday, the panel invited members of the public to submit memoranda and evidence to aid its investigation.
