NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police made 15 arrests over the four days of the 110th Feast of the Blessed Sacrament this past Thursday through Sunday, maintaining a safe environment throughout the city's signature summer event. “The NBPD maintained a significant public safety presence throughout the four-day Feast of the Blessed Sacrament,” police spokesperson Holly Huntoon told WBSM. “The majority of police activity consisted of officer-initiated enforcement and routine calls for service,” she said. “Many of the reported disturbances involved officers proactively addressing disorderly behavior, fights, individuals attempting to jump event fencing, reckless driving around the event perimeter, assaults and batteries on police officers, and trespassing.” There were no major issues and although at times there were some considerable lines to enter Madeira Field, they moved quickly thanks to the new, faster security scanners at each entrance.
