A LIFEBOAT crew was diverted to an unconscious passenger aboard a ferry after launching a search for a swimmer on Saturday evening.
The Jersey Lifeboat Association’s inshore lifeboat Albert Pinel was requested to launch by Jersey Coastguard at 6.21pm following concerns about the late arrival of a swimmer in the West Park area.
However, as Albert Pinel approached, Jersey Coastguard informed the crew that the passenger had regained consciousness and no longer required immediate help.
In a statement, the Jersey Lifeboat Association said: “It was undoubtedly an extremely busy period for Jersey Coastguard, with separate incidents occurring in quick succession.”
After returning to base, the crew washed down and refuelled the lifeboat before preparing it for its next call-out.
