Never imagining a world without the barn, Chollet always took photos of her horses and rarely of the beautiful structure they called home. The horse barn was being used for storage at the time, and the fire did not spread. Fond memoriesChollet lived in Nubanusit Neighborhood, an environmentally conscious co-housing community, for 17 years and shared many memories with her neighbors there. Traditionally, the barn housed up to three horses, which Chollet cared for with the help of the neighborhood children. For five years, Nubi River Farm leased land from the neighborhood and sold produce out of the barn.
