Plans to build up to 1,000 homes and a new school on a former Forest quarry have been revealed. A scoping report on environmental effects – which precedes a request for planning permission – has been submitted for former quarry land south of Bury Road in Marchwood. Submitted by Bloor Homes and the Barker-Mill Estates to New Forest District Council, the documents state: “The proposed development…. is expected to include up to 1,000 dwellings, land for a primary school [and] a mixed-use local community focal point.” “Thus before the NFDC 2002 Local Plan, this land had the status of future back-up land for commoners’ animals.
