Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano State has inaugurated the newly constructed edifice of Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC) to strengthen the state’s capacity to detect and curb outbreak of communicable diseases. Our correspondent reports that the Governor on Monday commissioned the facility located within the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Kano. “This center, which is named Kano State Center for Disease Control, is meant to control all communicable diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis, HIV, meningitis, etc.” Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran-Yusuf said the governor has fulfilled his promise to establish a disease control centre for the state. Labaran-Yusuf stressed the importance of the centre for effective control of disease outbreaks in the state.
