The problem begins when every use of force is placed in the same moral category. A person acting in self-defense uses force to stop the attack and reach safety. Physical force enters when the danger becomes immediate and safer options are no longer available. A trained person must recognize when force becomes necessary, use what the situation requires, and stop when the threat ends. When someone can stop violence and refuses to act, the victim pays the price.
