Cancer Research UK, which describes itself as the world's leading cancer charity, has announced a closing down sale at its branch at 79c London Road. There is a 50 per cent discount on selected items at the shop as it nears its expecting closing in September this year. Last year, it announced that it was closing around 190 shops across Britain, with 90 shops closing by the end of May 2026 and another 100 by next April. "A smaller, high-performing retail operation will mean we will fund more life-saving cancer research and better serve our customers, staff and volunteers. According to Civil Society, the charity expects the restructuring will impact around 600 members of staff, and up to 3,000 volunteers.
