Proposals have been made to Vale of White Horse District Council to "reinstate" the historic Causeway Cottage at The Causeway, a medieval road, in Setventon.
The plans said: "The overriding objective is to safeguard the historic building through sensitive and proportionate repair, ensuring its continued occupation and long-term preservation."
The proposals explain the building was listed for its "special architectural and historic interest and represents the evolution of a historic rural farmstead dating from the seventeenth century onwards".
It adds: "Replacement will only occur where fire damage or structural failure has made repair unviable."
The plan describes an intention to "reuse" historic masonry and historic timbers, while using traditional construction methods to "ensure consistency with its historic appearance".
