MITCHELL — Top law enforcement officials in the region agree it’s time to collaborate on a new, joint law enforcement center. ADVERTISEMENTDuring Monday night’s regular meeting, the Mitchell City Council gave Davison County officials unofficial approval to seek more information and costs for a joint facility to house the Mitchell Police Department and the Davison County Sheriff’s Office. Knippling, following Monday night’s meeting, acknowledged the benefits of a joint law enforcement center, of which a potential location was not discussed publicly. There is no space for expansion if more counties seek Mitchell’s services, but a new joint law enforcement center could be built with that in mind, Knippling said. But he acknowledged Davison County is looking to expand from 72 beds currently to up to 150 beds.
