DULUTH — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has recognized a Grand Rapids man as the 2025 volunteer firearms safety instructor of the year.
Kraig Kiger has been a certified firearms safety instructor since 2003.
In 2025, Kiger conducted 12 firearms safety classes at the Itasca Gun Club.
In the past, he’s taught as many as 24 classes a year, according to a news release from the DNR.
“You can see the light come on in the kids’ eyes when I talk about the places hunting has taken me, and it all started with firearms safety.”
