WHO Says the Congo Ebola Outbreak Is Now the Largest Ever Recorded in the Country as Confirmed Deaths Near 1,600

As of July 30, WHO reported 3,605 confirmed cases and 1,587 deaths in the DRC, a crude case fatality ratio of 44 percent. WHO stated plainly in its summary that "this is now the largest Ebola outbreak ever reported in the country." Since the previous outbreak news published in mid-July, an additional 1,481 confirmed cases and 759 confirmed deaths were reported. Uganda recorded 20 confirmed cases and two deaths, with 18 recoveries, and its last confirmed case was reported in late June. As of July 30, WHO reported 3,605 confirmed cases and 1,587 deaths in the DRC.
