A 24-year-old man has been arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm following a coordinated intelligence-driven operation conducted in Mohlatlareng village under the Maake policing area, Mopani District. The arrest follows an attempted murder incident that occurred at a tavern in Mohlatlareng village on Sunday, 02 August 2026, at about 23:30. Efforts to locate the alleged attempted murder suspect at his residence were unsuccessful. The suspect failed to produce a valid firearm licence and was immediately arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The arrested suspect is expected to appear before the Maake Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 05 August 2026, on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
