Pacific Island nation's 'exciting' name change

The Pacific country of Nauru has changed its name to the Republic of Naoero, in an "exciting" move to better align with national identity.
The nation's parliament earlier this year passed a constitutional amendment to rename the country, and had planned to hold a referendum.
But President David Adeang said that decision had changed as "Naoero is not a new name seeking acceptance by the people".

"It's seemingly very clear that Australia has welcomed the title change, even if it hasn't made an open statement."
