US ramps up sanctions against Iran's Mahan Air
[]
ch-aviation
The United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated two companies in China, one each in India and Russia, and one Chinese individual for allegedly acting as general sales agents for Iran's Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad).
Washington named Shanghai Wings International Logistics Co, India-based Skiez Travels and Logistics Private Limited, and Russia-based Air Cargo Pro Limited for "having materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, Mahan Air."
OFAC has also designated Chinese national Tang Xin for the same reason.
The US claims that Mahan Air "masquerades as a civilian airline" but is a de facto carrier of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps-Quds Force (IRGC-Quds Force).
Mahan Air itself has been designated by the US since 2011.
