Friends paying tribute to Mr McAnarney said he had died “doing what he loved”. Mr Simpson said the death of his close friend had left those nearest to him in shock, adding that he would be greatly missed. “It’s a bit surreal just trying to take it all in at the moment,” Mr Simpson told the Irish News. A family notice published on Monday said that Mr McAnarney had died “tragically as a result of an accident in Wales”.
