SCOTLAND’S First Minister has called for an end to the Energy Profit Levy to protect jobs following BP’s planned exit from the North Sea.
John Swinney and Energy Minister Stephen Gethins met with the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, energy sector representatives, and trade unions.
He urged the new Prime Minister to urgently implement a sensible tax regime to support workers in the North East.
Mr Swinney said: “It is crystal clear that the UK Government’s destructive tax regime is harming investment and jobs in Scotland.”
“What we need, above all, is for the new Prime Minister to end the unfair EPL and put in place a sensible tax regime to protect the workers of Scotland and the North East.”
