He said: "Following on from my question in November 2025 can you give an update on the progress of the Newport Leisure Centre in terms of adherence to timescale and budget. The facility forms a central part of the wider city centre regeneration programme and will replace the former Newport Centre. While no official opening date has been set, Councillor Batrouni said a schedule of opening activities will be published during the winter. The centre forms a focal point in the council’s strategy to revitalise the city centre and improve public amenities.
