Steve Gill, managing director of Bournemouth Airport, said: "Bournemouth Airport has changed enormously during its 85-year history, but its importance to the region has remained constant.
Crews from Fighter Command pose with one of their Hawker Typhoons during D-Day operations in June 1944.
Today, Bournemouth Airport serves more than 40 destinations and contributes more than £200 million a year to the local economy.
Now in its second summer season at the airport, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are operating two based aircraft and have announced their largest-ever schedule from Bournemouth for next summer, offering 22 routes and more than 320,000 seats.
Last week, the airport welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
