Several people are feared dead after a devastating multi-vehicle collision involving an STC passenger bus, two fuel tankers and a sedan at Birimso Bridge on the N6 Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region. The crash, which occurred on Monday, August 3, left the busy highway completely blocked in both directions, bringing traffic between Accra and Kumasi to a standstill. The STC bus was completely engulfed in flames following the collision, while one of the fuel tankers plunged off the bridge into a nearby river, raising fears of multiple casualties. Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were deployed to the scene to conduct rescue operations and assess the extent of the disaster. Authorities have appealed to motorists to remain patient, exercise caution and comply with instructions from police and emergency personnel as efforts continue to clear the wreckage and reopen the highway.
