Azerbaijan’s broad-based and increasingly proactive policy towards regional relations, however, has opened a new chapter. Today, the voice of the Caucasus can be heard not only in the West, but increasingly across the East and into Central Asia. It is also an important element of a broader geopolitical order taking shape between Central Asia and the South Caucasus. If bilateral alliances develop into a broader regional network, the OTS could strengthen its institutional capacity and deepen coordination on common priorities. The new alliance with Kyrgyzstan can be viewed as one of the important pillars supporting this broader strategy in Central Asia.
