The Marlborough Playhouse, a new venue for children and families at the old chapel on The Parade, is set to open on September 11. The former church building, which used to form part of the old congregational church, was listed for auction at a price of £350,000 last February. It has since been taken over by the playhouse business and is currently being transformed into a new play venue and cafe for local families and visitors to Marlborough. The venue will offer role play corners, cosy dens, a climbing space and can be hired for birthdays and events. Announcing the opening date, a spokesperson said: “Mark your calendars… The Marlborough Playhouse opens Friday, September 11 at 9am.
