New Delhi: More than 250 prominent feminists, women's rights activists and members of women's organisations across India have condemned the acquittal of former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and ex-BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in a sexual harassment case.
The activists have expressed solidarity with the wrestlers who fought what they described as a difficult battle for justice.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, the signatories said the wrestlers had shown exceptional courage in pursuing the case despite facing significant challenges throughout the legal process.
They asserted that the acquittal would not mark the end of the struggle and pledged continued support to the athletes.
They appreciated the legal team led by senior advocate Rebecca John for presenting the wrestlers' testimonies and arguments before the court.
