The university competed as an NCAA Division II provisional member during the 2025-26 academic year.
UJ teams played conference schedules, but their results could not lead to conference tournament berths or NCAA postseason appearances.
Mistro said Nybo was essential to UJ earning its full NCAA Division II membership.
The transition also required UJ teams to adjust to the increased depth and physical demands of Division II competition.
“We don’t have to explain what Division II is going to look like or when we’re going to be eligible,” Mistro said.
