NEW TOWN, N.D. — The National Park Service confirmed that a hiker who went missing in Theodore Roosevelt National Park was found dead. On Sunday, Aug. 2, National Park Service rangers recovered the body of a hiker who had been reported missing since July 20, the National Park Service said in an emailed statement Monday, Aug. 3. His vehicle was located in the North Unit of the park July 21. The National Park Service closed the North Unit Cannonball Concretion parking area, Caprock Coulee Trail and Buckthorn Trailhead at Theodore Roosevelt National Park for a portion of Aug. 2, according to a park Facebook post. The National Park Service is coordinating with the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation, the statement said.
