The report highlights work to help residents stay independent, safe and well, including support to recover after illness, stay connected to their communities and access care at the right time. It also explains how funding has been used, shares feedback from people who draw on care and support, and outlines priorities for the coming year. Key areas of focus over the past 12 months include improving access to support, strengthening safeguarding, investing in prevention and enhancing help for unpaid carers. The report also recognises the vital role played by carers, adult social care staff, voluntary and community organisations, care providers and NHS partners. Cllr Dr Kate Usmar, GCC cabinet member for adults’ support and independence, said the council is proud of the progress made but 'there is more to do', with priorities including earlier support, stronger prevention and clearer, easier-to-navigate services.
