Feige On Soft “Fantastic Four” Response
['Garth Franklin']
Dark Horizons
Marvel Studios released “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” last Summer to a relatively lukewarm response, along with so-so box-office.
Costing $181 million net to produce, the film ultimately made $521.9 million worldwide – that’s the highest-grossing “Fantastic Four” film to date and the best of last year’s three MCU films, but not remotely in “Spider-Man” or “Deadpool” league.
I think last year’s Fantastic Four looked and sounded like nothing that had been done in a superhero movie before, and it only [grossed] $521 million.
Asked if he thinks the excitement around the new “Spider-Man” film will translate into success for “Avengers: Doomsday” and other upcoming MCU fare, Feige says:“For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘X Men,’ it bodes very well.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is in cinemas now, with “Avengers: Doomsday” opening December 18th.
