The response comes after Unite the Union announced that workers at East Cowes Inshore Lifeboat Centre are set to strike on August 11, 19, and 25 in a dispute over redundancy terms. Unite claimed the RNLI had refused to improve its redundancy offer following plans to close the East Cowes site by 2028 and move production to Poole. Mr Barraclough said the RNLI had committed to providing financial and transitional support for staff choosing to relocate. "The enhanced package we have offered to Inshore Lifeboat Centre staff goes above statutory requirement and compares positively across the charity sector." He said: "We recognise this is a difficult and unsettling time for our Inshore Lifeboat Centre colleagues and the East Cowes community.
