Two 20-year-olds from Kane County have died after they went missing while kayaking near Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin, authorities said Monday. David Thalman of West Dundee and Francesca Warick of South Elgin were found dead about 10:55 a.m. Aug. 3 after a multi-agency search that started Sunday, according to a joint news release from the Door County Sheriff’s Office and Washington Island Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office extended its “deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of both individuals during this difficult time,” according to the release. The U.S. Coast Guard continued the search overnight until about 10:45 a.m. Aug. 2, when local authorities took charge of the search again. The incident remains under investigation by the Door County Sheriff’s Office.
