Sunderland City Council intends to close the A690 Durham Road, from its junction with Springwell Road to its junction with Barnes Park Road. The closure is to allow for resurfacing work and will start on Sunday, September 13. The closure will last for a maximum of 18 months but is expected to end once the work is complete.
