I completely understand why some local residents have concerns - about public money being spent wisely, and the path being designed to be safe. Accessibility is not a niche issue; it is something that benefits almost every Winchester family at some point in life. The money approved for the path comes from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding that has been allocated specifically for this project. The best public spaces are those that evolve carefully to become more welcoming, more inclusive and more accessible while preserving the qualities that make them special. If this path can help achieve that, then I believe it deserves our support.
