The chair of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), Anna Tylor, has called for the Accessible Information Standard to become mandatory on its tenth anniversary. The standard originally came into effect on August 1, 2016, to ensure patients with sight loss and other disabilities would receive easy-to-understand health information. Anna, from Winchester, was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 2022 and repeatedly received vital health information in a format she couldn't read. When she started chemotherapy, she asked the pharmacy if all the drugs could come with large print and was told ‘no’. On July 22, Anna and members of the RNIB campaigned for the cause at the Department for Health and Social Care in London.
