Charlestown, IN - Alfred "Al" Lee Thompson, 94, of Charlestown, IN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 1, 2026. Al was born to the union of Ernest and Truman Thompson in a one room log cabin among the rolling hills of Taylor County, KY March 14, 1932. Upon returning to Jeffersonville, IN, Al met the love of his life, Nancy Louise Clive, at the Jeffersonville Township Public Library. Al became a long distance runner later in his forties running several marathons and found his life-long friends through running. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Truman Thompson; brother, Otis Thompson (Linda); and sisters, Opal Eddings (Clyde), Shirley Caraway (Chuck) and Connie Schenk (Glenn).
