WORTHINGTON — Since July 17, high school students have been exploring the outdoors every Friday thanks to the Nobles County Integration Collaborative (NCIC)’s ‘Friday Outings’ program.
Thus far, students have gone to Elinor Bedell State Park in Dickinson County, Iowa, Centennial Park in Worthington and Devil’s Gulch Park in Garretson, South Dakota.
“Everyone has an opportunity to go,” said Estrella Bahena, NCIC Youth Development Leader in charge of the program.
For in town locations, Bahena and four other NCIC staff meet students at the locations.
Bahena chose locations based on her own experiences, such as Elinor Bedell State Park, whose hidden trails she was familiar with.
