SRINAGAR: The second phase of the Census, involving population enumeration, will be conducted from September 1 to 30 in Ladakh and snow-bound non-synchronous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the Centre has notified. A revisional round of the population enumeration will be conducted from October 1 to 5, according to the notification. The Census is being carried out in two phases, with the first covering the Houselisting and Housing Census and the second involving population enumeration. For the first time, caste details will be collected during the population enumeration phase. The Union Cabinet has approved Rs 11,718 crore for the Census exercise, which is being conducted as the country’s decennial population count.
