The project will remove shoaled sediment from navigation channels within Morehead City Harbor to help maintain safe and efficient vessel traffic. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said regular maintenance dredging is necessary to keep one of North Carolina’s major deepwater commercial ports open for maritime commerce. Curtin Maritime Corp., based in Long Beach, California, will perform the work under the direction of the Wilmington District.
