(ABC 6 News)–It’s been just under a month since major flooding slammed parts of Austin and on Monday night the city council approved a new flooding mitigation plan for two businesses. The two businesses have flooded several times over the years and it’s something the owners have told the city, they’re tired of dealing with. Flooding has been a massive issue for El Parral Bar and Ballroom off Fourth Street and Stuttgart Tan and Travel on Oakland Avenue in Austin. “Those buildings are repetitive loss structures; they’ve been flooded many times through the 2000’s, 2004, 2008, 2010 floods, and so now those property owners are interested in acquisition,” said Steven Lang, Austin city engineer. Also at Monday’s meeting, the city council approved an agreement with the International Association of Firefighters to give collective bargaining support to the fire department.
