Smartraveller has updated its advice for Australians heading to Samoa after a dangerous dengue fever outbreak hit the country.
SafeTravel New Zealand reported that between January and June this year, Samoa had more than 3500 dengue fever cases, including 150 hospitalisations and three deaths.
Camera Icon Dengue fever symptoms include fever, chills, joint pain and nausea.
Symptoms consist of fever, headaches, chills, swollen glands, muscle pain, joint pain, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and rashes.
Those who believe they may have contracted dengue fever are encouraged to contact their GP.
