Planning permission was granted last year for the new children's park, located near Lindores Drive and close to Crookston Care Home and Tranent Day Centre. It has been given the name Crookston Willow Play Area and will be opened to the public on Wednesday, featuring 24 pieces of equipment. The unveiling will make up part of an afternoon of events held in Tranent, focused on the environment and local green spaces. At 12.05pm at The Fraser Centre, a new initiative – Tranent Tree Town Project – will be launched, with help from storyteller Tim Porteus. From 1pm, the Wee Green Festival will then kick off at The Fraser Centre with a range of activities for all ages.
