'Today is the next step': Vance Boelter makes first court appearance on state charges

MINNEAPOLIS — Vance Boelter, the man federally convicted of shooting lawmakers and their family members last summer, made his first appearance for state charges on Monday.

Krista White, with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, asked that Boelter be held in Hennepin County Jail.
That time has arrived and Mr. Boelter will soon face accountability in a Hennepin County courtroom,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said in July.
Family members and lawmakers did not make any verbal statements following the state hearing on Monday.
