The Extra Mile, launched in Ulverston and surrounding areas on July 20, is already making a difference by offering transport without the need for a fixed timetable or route. The service adjusts routes based on bookings and groups requests to provide efficient shared transport. Funded by the Government’s Rural Mobility Fund, The Extra Mile aims to improve transport links in rural communities. The Ulverston pilot covers the Furness peninsula and areas including Roa Island, Roose, Thwaite Head and Flookburgh. Journeys were free for the first two weeks of the service but charges will now apply.
